General questions about the IQBBA
IQBBA (International Qualification Board for Business Analysis) is an international and independent standard-giving body for Business Analysis and part of A4Q. The mission of IQBBA is to develop and maintain the best standards in the field of Business Analysis and for the certification of its practitioners.
The three Syllabi that are available were developed by A4Q in cooperation with multiple international experts and the board and content issued is governed by experts in the field from around the world. The content of this scheme can
therefore be seen as an international standard. The Syllabi thereby make it possible to train and test internationally at the same level.
The IQBBA is an independent standard giving body which is globally recognized. An IQBBA Certification is therefore recognized as one of the premier qualifications for Business Analysis. Training courses for IQBBA must be accredited by an accreditation body authorized by A4Q.
It holds both a substantive control of training materials as well as monitoring of the training provider. The goal is to provide the students with the best possible quality training material. An accreditation has benefits for training providers and for the students as the high quality of the training material is guaranteed through the accreditation.
Anyone who is currently working as a Business Analyst or in a field that required Business Analysis skills, or who has an interest in becoming a Business Analyst is eligible for our Certified Foundation Level Business Analyst course/ exam as well as the Certified Agile Business Analyst course/ exam, however, to enroll in the Certified Advanced Business Analyst
course, a student must first successfully pass the Foundation Level Certification.
There are no prerequisites for the Certified Foundation Level Business Analyst Qualification, however, a basic understanding of business analysis, concept design, solution conceptualisation and design, or development would be advantageous. For good exam preparation, you should also study the Syllabus carefully.
There are currently three levels of Business Analyst qualifications under IQBBA: Certified Foundation Level Business Analyst, Certified Advanced Level Business Analyst, and Agile Business Analyst. Each program has its own Syllabus. To view the Syllabus outline for each qualification, please click here
Because the IQBBA is the standard giving body and a certification scheme of A4Q, having an IQBBA certificate will be recognized by employers globally. The qualifications, however, do not bear credits outside of the IQBBA structure and therefore cannot be transferred or included in another Syllabi or at another non-accredited institution.
IQBBA courses are designed for people involved in analysing business processes within an organization, modelling businesses and process improvement.
Potential career opportunities available with this certification include: Business Analyst, Process and Product Owner, Innovator, Product Designer, Process Optimization Professional, etc.
Once you have completed the training or studied the course content sufficiently, you will then need to write an examination either in the training facility of your chosen training provider, via an open onsite exam session organized by one of the official exam providers from IQBBA or via remote proctor.
The examination is closed book and written under strict and sterile examination conditions. You will find detailed information regarding examination on the A4Q Website or directly at the websites of the official examination bodies GASQ and iSQI.
